First Promise
Welcome Caitlin Jean
As I looked at you today, holding tightly on to your dad's finger - you are just 24 hours old.
I knew your dad, my son, Jay - would die for you. Your mum, Cherece, would throw herself under a train to protect you. Your whole family will do everything we can to protect you.
Unfortunately it is no longer just your family that decides your future - the so called leaders of the world are deciding your future.
At this time in history - this frightens me greatly. So much does it frighten me, that I now make this promise to you.
I will work the rest of my life to make it a better world for you by your 15th birthday in 2015, and to do this - I musr work to make it a better world for all children - not just you.
My gift to mark your birth on the November 30, 2000 at Nambour Hospital on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. Is the above promise.

After the past five year personal journey when I found how it could be possible for a unemployed granma in Australia to carry out this promise, is really very simple indeed.
All I need is for any adult who reads my promise, and who also want to see a better world for all children by the year 2015. Please give it some thought. Then write your own promise, something you will work to carry out. It could be something very small, like taking shorter showers, or some large project you intend doing, as long as it will make the world better not worse, as long as it will help the planet not destroy it.
Then send your promise to me and I will add it to my promise and together we will make a difference.
The children of the world will be able to see the promises and watch the progress of them.
