Hope and Joy

Yesterday I woke up in a land so far away

From Caitlin, friends and family

Back in the land we call Downunder

I am here in a nice Howard Hotel

On the small island they call Taiwan

Watched the TV news on English speaking CNN

To see a building had been destroyed

The UN headquarters in Iraq

I then see another bus has been blown apart

In Jerusalem - many children among the dead

As they mourn and dig for bodies

I pull the curtain look out across the busy city

The sky is overcast; typhoon had passed over during the night

I look forward to the day, here with wonderful people

My heart now heavy - but still filled with life and HOPE

As I wait for pick up at 8 o'clock

Turn off the pictures on TV and wish

They could be here, not dead over there!
